GetSimple CMS Showcase, Volume 1

GetSimple CMS Last week, I told you about a clever little CMS I’d found via my my web design partner (yeah, he’s got my back!). It’s GetSimple CMS by Chris Cagle. It is designed to serve a niche market for the small web site that doesn’t need all the bells and whistles of WordPress, Drupal, Joomla! or any other full blown content management system. And it doesn’t need a database. It runs completely on XML. And, the best thing about it? It’s a snap to design for. We ended up designing our first GS web site on Friday afternoon. It was a fluke, actually. Client called and needed a site up ASAP. Within less than an hour after the domain was purchased, GS was up and running and within another hour, the site had a spanking new design. But enough about us. Along with this new GS-powered web site, I want to feature four other small business/professional web sites that are running GetSimple.

Let’s Get Simple!

August 24th, 2009 | Filed Under: Bizness, Design | Comments (0)

GetSimple CMS My web design partner and Pixelita’s resident graphic artist shot me a link this past Saturday morning right before I was headed out the door to the other job at megalawfirm. I didn’t have time to do more than glance at it before I got home, but by the time I did get home, I was salivating to try it out. What was that link, you say?

http://www.get-simple.info. It’s a link to a great new lightweight CMS called GetSimple CMS, by Chris Cagle. The greatest thing about it, IMHO, is the fact that you don’t even need a database to run it, it uses an XML file. And there’s an “undo” button at nearly every turn! How cool is that?

After dinner on Saturday night, I went ahead and setup a testbed site (those of you who know me could have predicted this, and even predicted the site URL!) at getsimple.mytestbed.com. I had it up and running in under 30 minutes. It took me another 30 minutes to figure out how to deploy the Contact page, but with the help of none other than Chris Cagle himself on the GetSimple Support Forum, that problem was solved straightaway! I then spent another hour or so porting not one but two of our WordPress themes to GetSimple!

10 Pimped Out Small Biz Thesis Sites

August 15th, 2009 | Filed Under: Design, WordPress | Comments (3)

Table of contents for Thesis Showcase

  1. 10 Uncommonly Gorgeous Thesis Themes
  2. 10 Pimped Out Small Biz Thesis Sites
  3. Five Fabulously Designed Legal Websites Running Thesis

Thesis for WordPress Last week, I featured ten drop-dead gorgeous web sites running on Chris Pearson’s Thesis theme for WordPress. Just to illustrate how customizable this theme really is, this week, I am focusing on small business and professional web sites using Thesis. And not just using Thesis, but using it in unique and beautiful ways. What kind of Thesis site makes the Pixelita cut? Well, it has to be running Thesis of course. And not an out of the box or even moderately tweaked Thesis site. It should be very well customized (I don’t want to see those telltale curly braces showing off your comments!). As you can see from this selection, the businesses who have found Thesis run the gamut from lawyers to marketers to corporate branding firms to hospitals to roofing and construction companies. Why? They are capitalizing on Thesis’ built-in SEO, for one thing. And when you’re running a business, this is nothing to sneeze at.

So enjoy the presentation and if you would like a Thesis-powered web site, just contact us!
